Winner of the 2025 IWSG Small Projects Grant
Again this year, we were spoiled with very good project proposals from most continents.
After a review from each of the committee members, the one that came out on top was “Identifying hunting hotspots, estimating hunting intensity in coastal Tamil Nadu, India” led by Ramesh Kumar Selvaraj from India.
The aim of this project is to document and map shorebird hunting hotspots along the Tamil Nadu coast and assess the magnitude and patterns of hunting through direct engagement with coastal communities. Ultimately, the aim is to provide practical recommendations for targeted awareness and enforcement to support shorebird conservation.
Congratulations to Ramesh!
To the other applicants, we thank you for applying. Your proposals were good, and we wish you all the best for your projects. To them and to all other International Wader Study Group Members, please do not hold back. Shortly the call for the 2026 grant will open (fieldwork 2027). Once it does, feel free to send your proposals to: projects@waderstudygroup.org
