Unprecedented Shorebird Survey at Alaska WHSRN Site

After months of intense coordination and preparation, a team of shorebird scientists recently completed one of the largest shorebird breeding-ground surveys ever conducted. From 15 May to 10 June, they gathered data from more than 300 plots across the 8-million-hectare (19-million-acre) Yukon Delta National Wildlife Refuge in western Alaska (USA) to more accurately delineate breeding areas and estimate population sizes for several species.
