The location and construction of 103 Black-winged Stilt nests is described. All were located on lakes along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast during the 2000, 2001 and 2002 breeding seasons. The present study proposes a new classification of nests according to their location. Eight types are described. The most typical nest locations are flat places of different types covered with low vegetation. Previous studies classify six types according to their construction. To these five new ones are added. Most frequently Black-winged Stilt nests consist of different parts of plants, varying in their nature and quantity between different types of nest.
