Records of Curlew Sandpipers are scattered across most of Zambia, occurring wherever suitable muddy and sandy habitats occur. The most important area is the Kafue Flats. Records peak during southward passage, between August and December. Farm dams have created additional habitat and, in some instances, this enables birds to remain in Zambia throughout the nonbreeding season.
