In total, 4,508 Curlew Sandpipers were examined as a result of mist-netting activities undertaken mainly in the central and south-eastern parts of Kazakhstan in 1969–1994. The median date of northward migration falls on the 29th or 30th pentade depending on the way of calculation, and the migration is the most intense in the same period. Northward migration lasts until the 32nd pentade in the first one third of June (based on combined data). First adult Curlew Sandpipers moving southward were observed from almost the beginning or the middle of July. The median date of migration of adult Curlew Sandpipers in the region varied from 16 July to 13 August in different years, with 24 July the average. Southward migration of adult Curlew Sandpipers finished in the period between early August and the middle of September. Information on relative intensity of migration, sex–age composition, biometric characteristic of migrants, duration of staging, and long-distance territorial links are presented and discussed.
