The Beach Thick-knee Esacus neglectus is distributed from Northern Australia west through New Guinea, the Philippines, the Indonesian Archipelago and the Malay Peninsula. The total population in Myanmar is not known, but estimated at fewer than 50 breeding pairs. However, no there was no actual proof of breeding until an active nest with a single egg was found in March 2017. This paper describes the nesting location and the behaviour of one adult bird near the nest.
