Numbers of Curlew Sandpipers on passage through Denmark appear to have increased in recent decades. On northward migration the increase is from 10–50 birds per year to 300–500; on southward migration, the number of adults (migrating prior to 18 August) has increased from about 1,000 to 2,500–3,000 in good years. The estimated number of juveniles, migrating after 18 August, is estimated to be 3,000–5,000 birds following good breeding seasons. At Tipperne, juvenile migration showed the well-known three-year cycle.
