New Spoon-billed Sandpiper site discovered in Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Spoon-billed Sandpiper Conservation Project discovered 21 (6+15) Spoon-billed Sandpipers, including two flagged birds, in a previously unknown area (Sandwip, south-east coast) in Bangladesh. The survey team, led by Md. Foysal, also realized that the area supported more than 35,000 shorebirds, and may indeed host additional  Spoonies. More surveys are planned for next winter.
